How to set up Hiro, Orbit's AI assistant

Orbit gives every workspace monthly AI credits, included from day one, so you never paste an API key or wire up a provider. Switch on Hiro in settings and it starts working. Open it any time with Cmd or Ctrl-J. Here is how to turn it on and how credits and top-ups work.

How does Hiro, Orbit's AI assistant, work?

Most AI tools make you sign up for a provider, generate an API key, and paste it into a settings screen. Orbit does none of that. Every workspace comes with monthly AI credits included, so there is nothing to configure. You flip Hiro on and it starts working.

AI comes standard on every plan. The monthly credits included cover the drafting and reasoning Hiro does. If you run out, you can top up with pay-as-you-go credit packs, and paid-plan users can bring their own AI key. For a one-person business, the included credits stretch a long way because Hiro does focused jobs.

The CRM itself is free, and Hiro comes included from day one. That is what makes Orbit work for solopreneurs who want an affordable CRM and an assistant from the start.

How do I turn on Hiro?

It takes about a minute and there is no key to paste.

  1. 1Open Settings and find the AI section.
  2. 2Switch on Hiro, the assistant that drafts, summarizes, and reasons over your CRM, using your monthly credits.
  3. 3Open Hiro any time with Cmd or Ctrl-J and ask it to do something, like "draft a follow-up to Dana" or "clean up my duplicate contacts".
  4. 4Check your credit balance in the same AI settings. Every workspace gets monthly credits included, and the counter resets each month.
  5. 5If you run out before the month ends, buy a credit pack, or on a paid plan add your own AI key so the assistant keeps working.
  6. 6Remember Hiro is approval-gated: it drafts, you approve, edit, or dismiss. Nothing sends on its own.

What can Hiro do?

  • Create and update contacts, deals, and pipelines from a plain-English request.
  • Manage your tasks and calendar, and sort your GTD lists.
  • Write and send proposals and invoices, and draft the follow-ups on them, all waiting for your approval.
  • Draft replies and check-ins grounded in a contact's real timeline.
  • Build landing pages and forms, and remember facts you tell it across chats.

No API key to paste, no provider bill to watch. Every workspace gets monthly AI credits included. Top up with credit packs if you run light, or on a paid plan bring your own key. The CRM stays free either way.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Orbit AI cost to run?+

Every workspace gets monthly AI credits included, so there is nothing extra to pay to start: 50 credits a month on Free, more on paid plans. If you run out of credits before the month resets, you can top up with pay-as-you-go credit packs, and paid-plan users can bring their own AI key instead.

Do I need an API key to use Orbit AI?+

No. There is no API key to paste and no provider to set up. Just switch on Hiro and it starts working on your monthly credits. Paid-plan users can optionally bring their own AI key when their credits run out, but nothing is required to get going.

Is Orbit AI free?+

The CRM is free: 250 contacts, one pipeline, tasks, calendar, notes, basic Tables, a built-in email inbox with 100 sends a month, 10 invoices, 10 proposals, and one booking page. AI comes standard on every plan too, and Free gets 50 monthly credits with no key to paste. The Chrome extension and webhooks are on every paid plan (Lite and up), and MCP is Pro and up.

Do I have to manage AI usage or credits with Orbit?+

Barely. There is no key to paste and no provider bill to watch. You get monthly credits included that reset each month, and you can see the balance in AI settings. If you run out, buy a credit pack, or on a paid plan add your own key. There is no separate account to juggle.

What is Hiro and where do I find it?+

Hiro is Orbit's one AI assistant, built into the app. Open it any time with Cmd or Ctrl-J. It can create and update contacts and deals, manage tasks and the calendar, write and send proposals and invoices, draft replies, build pages, and remember facts across chats, all approval-gated so nothing sends on its own.
